I never knew you

I never knew you

21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’

23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.

One great mistake among believers is the thinking that once saved, already saved.

In fact, a Christian movement called Calvinism teaches Perseverance of the saints.

Calvinism is a teaching that asserts that once persons are truly “born of God” or “regenerated” by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, nothing in heaven or earth “shall be able to separate (them) from the love of God”
Modern Pentecostal groups don’t believe in Calvinism, but many among us act more like it.

In the scriptures above, Jesus said “Not everyone who calls me lord”. This could only mean a believer. For the bible says anyone who shall confess Jesus as Lord shall be saved.

But Jesus is saying not all who call me lord but they who do the will of my father.

We are living in a generation where ,many believers care less about what God wants from them. They go to Church, attend bible classes, go to evangelism but yet have refused to submit to God totally. They have an aspect of their lives that they still hold on to, not allowing Christ to reach that aspect too.

Pastors, members who have given their lives to Christ but still have an aspect which they know is wrong but have refused to yield to the voice of the Spirit.

Jesus was not talking about sinners in the world. He was not referring to Church goers who are still wallowing in sin.

For in verse 22 he said ” Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles“.

This could only mean that these were spirit filled children of God who prophesied, spoke in tongues, cast out demons and performed miracles by the power of Jesus.

But Jesus said in verse 23 “Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.

As people of God we must submit ourselves totally. Each day of our lives, we must try to grow deeper, figuring out what is right before God and doing theme. If many who prophesied and performed miracles having accepted Jesus as lord could be rejected, then we must buckle up.

There is no once saved; always saved.

It would be a great time of sorrow if after all our suffering, neglect of pleasures of sin and persecutions, all our nights of prayers, fasting with tears before God and He tells us ‘I never knew you.

My God help us all.

Amen!!
